#1 Breville BES870XL – Barista Express Espresso Machine
This machine has an excellent design and is high-quality manufacturing. All-in-one – you don’t have to get an expensive grinder, fancy wooden tamper and a milk frother.
It is all stainless steel and what isn’t (and is plastic) doesn’t feel cheaply made. It seems sturdy and high quality.
You will like the integrated bean grinder. Frees up counter space & its design allows for quickly changing bean selection.
As you know the Barista is more complicated than the Cafe Roma in producing a perfect shot every time.
Every different bean has a unique character as far as how easily water flows through it, how much you need to load in the portafilter, how hard to tamp it down, etc.
Some users said that the shots are hot enough, and if you brew right after turning the unit on, the shots are indeed between lukewarm and hot.
If the machine is on about 15 minutes, the water seems to warm up to more of a “hot” level. Real Italian espresso shots aren’t supposed to be “hot,” but it’s nice to have the option.
The unit had a low water indicator light in the front and some “kill switch” to turn off the brew cycle. If you run out of water or overfill the portafilter, the machine continues to try to complete the cycle.
Whether you produce the ‘perfect shot’ or not, the Barista makes terrific espresso.
And you can experience the ritual that comes with a more sophisticated machine – even if you have to do a lot of trial and error to figure it out reliably.
#2 Breville BES920XL – Dual Boiler Espresso Machine
The most expensive coffee maker on our list today is the Breville BES920XL.
This Breville dual boiler is fantastic for a home machine, capable of producing the finest of espresso shots.
Steaming is a breeze also, and microfoam is easy to produce. There is not a better home set up anywhere close to this price.
The only legitimate concern is longevity – well I’ve opened up the machine and nothing in here scares me. Adjustability is unmatched by any device in this price range
With the double boiler we can begin steaming the milk, then time the espresso extraction (a simple matter of pressing the button on the front) to finish both at the same time.
We find the programmed shot volume very consistent from shot to shot, even when changing to different beans and allowing for various degrees of tamping.
The large water tank is beautiful; You need to refill it about once a day for a large family.
The espresso machine is small enough to sit on our counter under standard-height cupboards. It can be programmed to turn itself on at a set time.
#3 Breville BNV450BLK1BUC1 VertuoPlus Coffee and Espresso Machine
If you’re a coffee-lover, then this is what you need. Not only does the coffee for it taste amazing, but the machine itself is so smooth and works with a simple touch.
A big step up in making delicious coffee at home. the little metal pods look lovely displayed in the kitchen too
The milk frother is easy to use — try mixing the milk half and half with some of the flavored creamers in the dairy case.
This one has corrected the heating issue which makes the coffee much hotter.
We love the fact that the pods are programmed to dispense the correct amount of coffee.
Pod orders from Nespresso take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours to arrive, and the pod recycles bags with the prepaid UPS are a great idea.
#4 Breville BEC120RED1AUC1 Inissia Espresso Machine
First of all, if you love coffee and espresso, this Breville machine is the right item. The quality and taste are by far better than any other you have tried.
The Inissia is small, lightweight, and quality made. It can make excellent espresso and lungo cups. The price of the Inissia is affordable.
This saves space, looks attractive, and gives me my choice of machines to use without having to get one out of a cabinet or take up extra counter space.
There are two buttons on the top of the machine, one for espresso and one for lungo. You press either one to get the computer to heat the water, and this takes less than 60 seconds.
The capsules are more expensive than buying off-brand or Keurig pods for other machines, but according to us, well worth it.
The Inissia uses original line capsules with more variety of flavors. We highly recommend these machines.
#5 Breville BES880BSS Barista Touch Espresso Maker, Stainless Steel
This new Breville Touch Espresso is one of the best, most comfortable, most versatile, and exceptionally built espresso makers you can buy.
The Barista Touch espresso maker is equipped with full color. This screen display will “hold your hand” every step of the way, from the initial setup to making your first cup of perfect coffee.
It will help you to get comfortable with the temperature settings, teach you how to preheat your cup, adjust the fineness of your ground coffee, etc.
Most importantly, each machine set is a touch of the screen away and can be easily modified.
The built-in burr grinder is top of the line! It also can be easily adjusted to match your desired extraction time, size of the shot, and the thickness of your crema.
The coffee tamper is magnetized and conveniently attaches itself to the machine.
The included coffee leveler/blade allows you to “shave off” the excess ground coffee from the portafilter basket.
You’re pleased with the fantastic milk frother which allows you to select the desired milk temperature, milk foam thickness, and set the further cup under the steam wand.
The built-in temperature sensor monitors the frothing process and stops it automatically at the desired temperature and foam consistency.
Unique to any espresso maker, the Barista Touch is ready to brew a perfect cup of coffee in 3 seconds! No purging or preheating required.
#6 Breville BDC650BSS Grind Control Coffee Maker
The Breville Grind Control is the best product with an electric cord; if you like fresh coffee made from fresh ground beans, this is a great choice.
The ability to brew as few as one to as many as 12 cups is incredible.
The carafe keeps coffee warm FOREVER but not avoids the burned taste from a heating element. Even you make coffee from the morning; it’s still perfectly drinkable after lunch.
Clean up is easy. Barely 2 minutes of rinsing and wiping. The longer it sits, the tighter it is to wipe the release disk.
The Descale process is simple, and the machine is programmed to allow plenty of deep cleaning time.
If you need a new coffee brewer and you enjoy coffee, this is the machine you need.
#7 Breville BDC450 Precision Brewer Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe
This coffee maker was easy to set up and is easy to use. It makes great coffee every time, and the cold brew is perfect.
The water reservoir lid comes off and can be washed separately. The water reservoir itself stays attached but is wide enough to fit the entire hand inside for cleaning.
It automatically knows how much coffee to brew based on the amount of water.
The label tells which filter type to use and how many scopes of coffee to put with the amount of water.
This machine has been worth every penny. It has outperformed on all the points you wanted, while still having options to customize your brew and make cold coffee.
If you consider yourself of a Breville fanboy— so make your purchase with this Breville coffee maker.
#8 Breville ESP8XL Cafe Roma Stainless Espresso Maker
You are entirely new to the espresso world when you buy the Breville ESP8XL Cafe Roma.
The machine heats quickly, and the coffee has a beautiful “crema” on top — just what you would expect from an Italian espresso bar!
This machine is a decent/good quality build. It makes both excellent espressos and frothed milk, as good as most coffee shops, better than most chains if you use it correctly.
The steamer is decent, but it’s hard to see the water level through the window on the side.
But the compactness of the machine is a useful feature. It fits into our appliance garage on the counter nicely.
The steam cup is small, and I usually put something under it, so I don’t have to hold it under the steam wand.
You need to rinse the porta-filter with water regularly, use a cleaning agent, and descale about twice a year.
Otherwise, the machine will go wrong eventually. Filtered tap water helps as well.
One thing that should be changed is that the frothing wand. It is too short to giant froth pitcher, and there is no variable steam control, and there is no variable steam control.
#9 BREVILLE BES810BSSUSC BES810BSS Duo Temp Pro Espresso Machine
If you want a simple design with minimal controls to worry about, this machine is for you. Set up is very simple, so don’t worry.
The baskets for a total newbie, dual walled allow you to create your morning ritual of brewing. Later upgrade your game to single-walled for stronger flavors.
That is only using a handful of buttons that make it easy to control for people who have ever use a coffee maker before.
It is very good at pulling shots. The clean-up is relatively simple if you run the hot water through the steam wand after frothing your milk.
#10 Breville BES840XL/A the Infuser Espresso Machine
This machine is heavy and seems to be very well made. We would highly recommend it to any espresso/latte/cappuccino lover as you won’t be disappointed.
The essential advantage of this machine over the more expensive Silvia thought is the combo of the built-in pressure gauge with preinfusion along with the PID.
It ensures you are grinding and tamping correctly and that the espresso is wetted correctly and maintains both the right pressure and the right temperature for ideal extraction.
It also has some other excellent features like more natural cleaning with a tablet, a convenient built-in handle for the water reservoir, and a way to ensure the drip tray does not overfill.
But the quality of the espresso it produces is the real reason to buy this machine.
In all, it is fast, well designed and makes the best expresso/coffee you could ask. A great, well-designed espresso maker at a meager price.
